Valley Sports ReportITHACA — Athens closed out the regular season with a dominating 67-6 win over Ithaca here Wednesday night in non-league wrestling action.
Seniors Ryan Howard (157 pounds) and Brendan Comstock (285), juniors Connor Davidson (172) and Brendan Cooke (189), and freshman Josh Saxon (103) scored pins for the Wildcats, who won 8 of the 9 contested weight classes.
Freshman Chace VanDyke scored a 16-1 technical fall over Cashmere Foreman at 118 pounds, and junior Lucas Persun registered a 22-7 technical fall over Christopher Jett at 132 pounds.
Junior Wyatt Clink topped Isaiah Scott, 11-5, at 150 pounds in the only match to go a full six minutes.
Juniors Zaine Campbell (126 pounds), Wilson Kinsman (138) and Landon Layman (215) and freshman David Janiszeski (144) each received forfeits for the Wildcats.
Athens, now 8-1, returns to action against Shikellamy Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the District 4, Class AAA Duals at Milton High School.
