LANSING — Waverly got off to a fast start and rolled to a 55-34 win over Lansing here Wednesday night in non-league junior varsity boys basketball action.

"Lansing was 11-1 entering the game," said Waverly coach Mike Croft. "I'm proud of my kids and the efforts they gave me tonight."

Axel Murray scored eight points, including a 3-pointer, and Brody Lambert added seven points to help the junior Wolverines to a 20-7 lead after the opening eight minutes.

Drew Croft canned a trio of 3-pointers in the second quarter, and Maddex Presher added five points, including a trey, as Waverly used an 18-11 run to extend its lead to 38-18 at the halftime break.

Lambert scored five points, including an old-fashion three-point play, and Croft drained another 3-pointer as Waverly added two points to its advantage, and led 50-28 heading into the final eight minutes.

Croft led Waverly with 17 points, including four 3-pointers, four rebounds, two assists, and four steals, while Lambert had 14 points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals, and Murray had 10 points, three assists, four steals, and three blocked shots.

Bryce Fiske added seven points, seven rebounds, two assists, and four steals, while Presher chipped in with five points,  and three rebounds, Ian Johnston had five rebounds and three steals, and Brock Rose pulled down five boards.

Waverly returns to action Friday at Norwich.
