ODESSA — Tioga built a 16-point halftime lead and cruised to a 55-35 win over Odessa-Montour here Friday night in IAC South Small School boys basketball action.
"I thought we played really well defensively tonight," said Tioga coach Connor Hutchinson. "The guys were flying around, and I thought we were forcing tough shots the entirety of the game.
"Offensively, we moved the ball well, which got everyone involved," he noted. "Scoring spread throughout the scorebook is good to see.
"Another highlight was guys coming off the bench tonight," added Hutchinson. "They were ready to execute and gave us good minutes throughout the game."
Junior Dominic Palmer scored six points in the first quarter, and junior Jackson Bombard added four points as Tioga jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the opening stanza.
Bombard knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points in the second quarter, while Palmer scored four points, and senior James Miller canned a 3-pointer in Tioga's 15-7 run that extend its lead to 32-16 at the halftime intermission.
Miller drained a 3-pointer in the third quarter, and four of his teammates found the scoring column in an 11-8 spurt that pushed the Tiger advantage to 43-24 heading into the final eight minutes.
Josh Rought connected on a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Bombard also drained one as Tioga put the game away with a 12-11 advantage in the final stanza.
Bombard led Tioga with 16 points, five assists,a dnthree rebounds, while Palmer had 12 points and nine boards, and Miller added nine points and four boards.
Junior Gavin Kithcart added six points and eight rebounds in the win, while Rought scored six points, and 8th-grader Jonah Palmer chipped in with two rebounds and two assists.
Tioga returns to action Tuesday at Newfield.
