IAC BOYS BASKETBALL: NEWFIELD PULLS OUT 55-52 WIN OVER TIOGA (12 PHOTOS) (2026-02-03)

TIOGA CENTER — Newfield used a late run to pull out a 55-52 win over Tioga here Tuesday night in IAC South Small School Division boys basketball action.

Junior Jackson Bombard scored six points in the first quarter, and senior Dominic Palmer added five points, but the Trojans led 16-13 after the opening eight minutes.

Dominic Palmer scored eight more points in the second quarter, and senior James Miller knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points to fuel a 16-8 Tioga run that gave the Tigers a 29-24 lead heading into the halftime locker room.

Eighth-grader Jonah Palmer canned a 3-pointer and scored five points in the third quarter, while Dominic Palmer and junior Gavin Kithcart scored four points apiece, and Miller added another 3-pointer to help the Tigers maintain the lead heading into the final eight minutes, but Newfield was able to trim the lead to 45-42.

Newfield's LeMari Spears connected on a trio of 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the Trojans outscored the Tigers, 13-7, to pull out the win.

Dominic Palmer led Tioga with 21 points and five rebounds, while Kithcart scored nine points and hauled down 10 rebounds, and Miller scored eight points.

Bombard had six points, while Josiah Palmer added five points, and senior Brady Landmesser grabbed four rebounds.

Tioga returns to action Thursday at S-VE.
