NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: JARVIS' LATE FREE THROWS LIFTS ATHENS TO 25-23 WIN OVER NP-MANSFIELD (21 PHOTOS) (2026-02-03)

MANSFIELD — Junior McKenna Jarvis made two free throws in the final 68 seconds to lift Athens to a hard-fought, 25-23, win over North Penn-Mansfield here Tuesday night in NTL Large School girls basketball action.

Junior Megan Morgan scored four points in the first quarter to help Athens to an 8-7 lead, and Jarvis scored four points in the second quarter to help the Wildcat up their lead to 15-12 at the half.

NP-M trimmed a point from its deficit in the third quarter, and trailed 21-19 entering the fourth quarter.

Addilyn Lehman scored a bucket early in the fourth quarter for the Tigers to tie the game at 21-21.

Senior Ava Hughes knocked down a 15-foot jumper with 6 minutes left in the game to give Athens a 23-21 lead, but Lehman scored a minute later to tie the game at 23-23.

Neither team scored again until Jarvis made 1 of 2 free throws with 1:08 remaining to put the Wildcats up 24-23.

With 11.9 remaining, Jarvis again hit 1 of 2 from the charity triple to make it 25-23.

NP-M missed two free throws with 5.2 second remaining, and Athens rebounded the miss to seal the win.

Jarvis had six points, five rebounds, and two steals, and Morgan scored six points to lead the Wildcats.

Hughes added four points, four rebounds, and three steals in the win, while freshman Alexis May had three points and five steals, sophomore Alissa Vough had three points and four boards, and junior Brielle Mayo grabbed three rebounds.

Athens returns to action Thursday when it hosts Troy.

JV: Athens 38, NP-Mansfield 30: Stella Unger led Athens with 13 points, and Alexis May added 12 points.
