OWEGO — The Lady Wolverines rolled to a sweep of Owego in STAC bowling action, but the Waverly boys dropped a 3-2 decision to the River Hawks here Wednesday afternoon at the Owego Bowl.
GIRLS
Waverly 5, Owego 0
Waverly won the first game 763-559, then followed it up with wins of 756-577 and 713-534 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,232 to 1,670.
Rylie Witman led Waverly with a 534 series, while Ariel Houseknecht shot a 467, and Karis Hayes rolled a 454.
Aby Apgar added a 382 in the sweep, while Emily Houseknecht added 261 over two games, and Emmalynn Vanderpool tacked on a 134.
Elaina Anschutz led Owego with a 387 series.
BOYS
Owego 3, Waverly 2
Waverly won the first two games, but the River Hawks answered with a monster third game to also pull out the total-pinfall points for a 3-2 win.
Waverly won the first game 954-909 and the second game 1,068-1,058, but Owego countered with a 1,205-941 win in the third game for a total-pinfall win of 3,172 to 2,963.
Griff Walter led Waverly with a 613 series on games of 201, 203, and 209, while Colten Santalucia shot a 610 on games of 192, 214, and 204, and Tristan Campbell rolled a 608 on games of 205, 259, and 144.
Derek Johnson added a 572, including a 212, for the Wolverines, and Maison Apgar tacked on a 560, including a 206.
Connor Kotski banged out a match-high 719 series on games of 203, 269, and 247, while Evan O'Hara shot a 692, Ari Lemmon added a 642, and Grayson Quick had a 602.
Waverly returns to action Thursday at Chenango Forks.
