PANEK PACES LADY WILDCATS IN SIXTH-PLACE FINISH

WILLAMSPORT — Junior Brayden Pettitt had four top-two finishes to lead the Athens boys to a third-place finish here Saturday at the Coaches Swim Invitational here at Williamsport High School, while senior Evelyn Panek had four top-four finishes to lead the Lady Wildcats to a sixth-place finish.
The Athens boys finished second among Class AA teams at the invite, and the girls were fifth among AA teams. There were 19 teams in all in the field.
BOYS
Tunkhannock won the team title with 400 points, while Williamsport was runner-up with 304 points, Athens tallied 246 points, and Danville was fourth with 170 points.
Pettitt won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.57 seconds, while junior Dominic Musick was fifth in a time of 58.75 seconds,
Pettitt placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 55.13 seconds,
Pettitt and Musick teamed with juniors Eli Hicks and Jacob Shores to finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:31.88.
The same foursome finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a. Time of 3:25.26.
Musick placed fourth in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:19.16
Hicks was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.8 seconds, while Shores was ninth in 52.05 seconds, senior Ty Lezak was 12th in 53.6 seconds, and junior Matthew Rossettie was 22nd in 57.31 seconds.
Hicks placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.65 seconds, and freshman Shayan Ankam was 24th in 25.99 seconds.
Lezak finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.79, and Ankam was ninth in 1:14.81.
Shores placed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:57.57, and Rossettie was 19th in 2:12.96.
Rossettie, Lezak, Ankam, and Alexander Stedge teamed to finish eighth in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:04.5.
GIRLS
Panek had a pair of second-place individual finishes and was on third- and fourth-place relays.
Danville won the team title with 295, while Bloomsburg was second with 267, Lewisburg was third with 246, Williamsport was fourth with 231, Milton was fifth with 186, and Athens tallied 154.
Panek placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.75 seconds, while senior Kayla Marshall (29.35 seconds) and sophomore Brooke Lyon (29.35 seconds) tied for 21st, and junior Alana Reyes (29.52) was 23rd.
Panek was also second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 57.02 seconds, and Marshall was 20th in 1:04.86.
Panek teamed with senior Elizabeth Denlinger, Lyon and junior Kaitlyn Leonard to place third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.12.
Panek, Denlinger, Leonard and Marshall teamed to finish fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:05.2.
Denlinger placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:07.1 Denlinger was also 10th in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:12.25, and Leonard was 12th in 1:17.21,
Senior Madeline Henderson finished 11th in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:39.55. She was 14th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:22.19
Leonard finished 18th in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:17.62.
Athens wraps up its dual season Tuesday at Danville.
