STAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY HOLDS OFF CHENANGO FORKS, 43-38 (2026-02-10)

BINGHAMTON — Waverly built an eight-point lead over three quarters, then held on for a 43-38 win over Chenango Forks here Friday night in STAC junior varsity girls basketball action.

Kezlyn DeKay scored four points in the first quarter to help Waverly to a 9-7 lead.

Sophia Dorsey scored four points in the second quarter, and DeKay knocked down a 3-pointer as Waverly used an 11-9 advantage to take a 20-16 lead at the half.

Isabella McEwen scored four points in the third quarter and four of her teammates also found the scoring column in a 12-8 spurt that put the Wolverines up 32-24 heading into the final eight minutes.

DeKay scored five points, including a 3-pointer, and Addison Foster canned a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter as Waverly preserved the win

The Wolverines made just 8 of 31 free-throw attempts in the win.

DeKay led Waverly with 14 points, while Dorsey scored nine points, Taylin Gonzalez had six points, Foster added five points, and McEwen chipped in with four points.

Waverly, now 15-2, wraps up the regular season Tuesday night at Owego, then hosts Horseheads Saturday at noon in the semifinals of the STAC Championships.
