Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Basketball's regular season comes to an end with three games in New York on Tuesday, and the postseason begins with games in Pa. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The week draws to a close with wrestling and bowling postseason action.
There are 11 events on the schedule this week, including four on Friday and three on Tuesday.
The following are all of the varsity events this week, the vast majority being postseason events.
MONDAY (0)
There are no events on the schedule.
TUESDAY (3)
• The Tioga boys close out the basketball regular season with a home game against Groton.
• The Waverly girls host Elmira in their regular-season finale
• The Waverly boys play immediately following the girls game, hosting Whitney Point to close out the regular season.
WEDNESDAY (1)
• The Sayre boys open play in the District 4, Class AA basketball playoffs at Northeast Bradford.
THURSDAY (1)
• Athens girls open District 4, Class 4A basketball playoffs at Central Columbia
FRIDAY (4)
• Waverly and Tioga will compete at the Section IV Girls Bowling Championships at Midway Lanes in Vestal.
• Athens will be in action at Day 1 of the District 4, Class 3A wrestling championships, while Sayre's Jordan Brown will compete in the Class AA Championships.
• Athens opens play in the District 11, Class 5A boys basketball playoffs against Southern Lehigh at Blue Mountain High School.
• Waverly and Tioga will compete at the Section IV Indoor Track & Field Qualifier at Ithaca College.
SATURDAY (2)
• Waverly and Tioga will compete at the Section IV Boys Bowling Championships at Midway Lanes in Vestal.
• Day 2 of the District 4 Wrestling Championships at Williamsport High School.
