THE VALLEY — The Waverly girls will have a much shorter trip than the boys team, but both Wolverine basketball teams will open the Section IV, Class A playoffs on the road.
CLASS A GIRLS
Waverly (8-12), the fifth seed, will open the Class A playoffs Friday at fourth-seeded Owego (12-8) Friday at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
The winner will advance to play at top-seeded Maine-Endwell (15-4) in the semifinals on March 3 at 6 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket, sixth-seeded Chenango Valley (7-10) is at third-seeded Norwich (14-2) Friday, with the winner advancing to play second-seeded Johnson (10-8) City March 3.
The Class A title game is set for March 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Visions Arena.
CLASS A BOYS
Waverly (14-6), the third seed, will travel to second-seeded Oneonta (15-4) for a Class A semi-final match-up on Wednesday, March 4.
Top-seeded Maine-Endwell (13-6) will host the winner of Friday's game between fifth-seeded Chenango Valley (11-9) and fourth-seeded Norwich (14-5) on March 4 in the other semi-final game.
The winners will square off March 8 at 3:15 at the Visions Arena for the Class A title.
