THE VALLEY — Tioga senior Gavin Albrecht earned the right to add another state title to his resume, while Athens juniors Connor Davidson and Brendan Cooke won District 4 titles, and Athens senior Penelope Grubb punched her ticket to States in her first year. They are the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Feb. 21.

Albrecht, the reigning Section IV and New York State champion, earned the right to vie for an indoor pole vault title too by winning a Section IV title Saturday.
Albrecht, who has the Tioga outdoor school-record of 15 feet, cleared the bar at 14-6 to win the indoor title.
Davidson, the top seed, was 2-0 with two first-period falls to win the 172-pound bracket at the District 4, Class AAA Wrestling Championships.
Davidson decked Shikellamy's Connor Spear in 70 seconds in the semifinals, then pinned Jersey Shore's Jon Dincher in 1:33 in the finals.
Cooke, the top seed, was 2-0 to win the 189-pound weight class.
Cooke pinned Williamsport's Makai Williams in 48 seconds in the semifinals, then pinned second-seeded Riley Kanski in 1:50 in the finals.

ATHENS' GRUBB NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Grubb, in her first year of diving, was the runner-up at the District 4 Diving Championships to punch her ticket to States.
Grubb posted a career-best 11-dive score of 246.7 points to earn her trip to States.
