THE VALLEY — There's just one basketball team still standing in the Valley, and it finally takes the court tonight.

Class A Semifinals
3-Waverly (14-6) at 2-Oneonta (15-4), 6 p.m.: The Wolverines have been off for 17 days since a 73-32 win over Whitney Point, while the Yellowjackets are coming off a 69-51 loss to Corning in the STAC semifinals 15 days ago.

The two teams met on Feb. 4 at Waverly with Oneonta pulling out a 63-51 win in overtime. Oneonta tied the game at the buzzer to force overtime, and then pulled away in the extra session.

Five of six Waverly's losses came to teams still alive in the postseason. The Wolverines dropped two games to Class AA top seed Seton Catholic (19-1), and one each to Class AAA top seed Corning (19-1), Class A 2-seed Oneonta (15-4), and Class B 3-seed Windsor (11-10).

Waverly also lost at Class A fourth-seed Norwich (14-6), which dropped a 72-59 decision to fifth-seeded Chenango Valley in the quarterfinals.

Oneonta's four losses came to three teams with a combined record of 61-2. The Yellowjackets lost twice to Corning (19-1), and once each to Seton Catholic, and Section III's Class B top-seed Cooperstown (23-0).
