HERSHEY — Six Valley wrestlers will be in action today at Day 1 of the PIAA Wrestling Championships here at the Giant Center.
Sayre junior Jordan Brown will wrestle for Class AA hardware, while Athens junior Connor Davidson is vying for a Class 3A medal.
On the girls side, Athens seniors Hannah Rathbun and Leah Nason, junior Joyce Clink, and freshman Skylynn Payne will vie for state hardware.
CLASS AA BOYS
172 Pounds
Sayre junior Jordan Brown (26-12) will square off with Burrell's Ben Catullo (35-14) in the preliminary round.
The winner will advance to face Bishop McCort's Emory Gunby (37-11) in the first round.
CLASS 3A BOYS
172 Pounds
Athens junior Connor Davidson (28-10) will square off with Ephrata's Dustin Hoover (31-10) in the preliminary round.
The winner will advance to State College freshman face Teag Sanderson, who is the son of Penn State coach and four-time NCAA champion Cael Sanderson.
GIRLS

Athens junior Joyce Clink (33-7) will face Governor Mifflin's Gianna Montegari (27-4) in the first round.
130 Pounds
Athens senior Hanna Rathbun (35-5) will square off with Souderton's Emily Sarr (41-4) in the opening round.
190 Pounds
Athens freshman Skylynn Payne (27-6) will face Central Dauphin's Ashley Hoffman (34-3) in the first round.
235 Pounds
Athens senior Leah Nason (26-4) will square off with Albert Gallatin's Jenna Chapman (18-6) in the opening round.
