YOUTH SWIMMING: LINCOLN, OWEN PACE STRONG SHOWING BY WAAC AT NIAGARA 14U CHAMPIONSHIPS (5 PHOTOS) (2026-03-20)

WEBSTER, N.Y. — Notre Dame's Madeline Lincoln swam to three second-place finishes, and Athens's Evelyn Owen had a pair of top-five finishes here recently at the Niagara Swimming 14 & Under Championships at the Webster Natatorium as part of the Waverly Area Aquatic Club.

Lincoln, winning in the 11-12 age group, finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 29.11 seconds. She was also second in the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 34.43 seconds, and second in the 100-yard IM in 1:16.23 seconds.

In the preliminaries, Lincoln swam personal-best times in all three events, touching in 28.63 in the 50 free, 34.24 in the 50 back, and 1:15.38 in the 100 IM.

Owen, swimming in the 11-12 age group, swam in six events, and placed in the top 12 in four of them.

Owen finished third in the 100-yard backstroke in a personal-best time of 1:14.12, and was fifth in the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 35.74. Owen swam a personal-best time of 34.92 in the preliminaries.

She was ninth in the 50-yard butterfly in a personal-best time of 35.2 seconds, was 12th in the 100-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 1:07.71, and was 20th in the 100-yard IM in a personal-best time of 1:23.01.

Notre Dame's James Lincoln, swimming in the 13-14 age group, swam to three top-10 finishes.

Lincoln was ninth in the 50-yard backstroke in 31.46 seconds, and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.3. He was 10th in the 100-yard IM in 1:06.66. All three times were personal-bests.

Grace Christian Academy's Ryan Oldroyd had three top-15 finishes for WAAC.

Oldroyd, swimming in the 10U age group, was 11th in the 100-yard freestyle in  1:28.99, 13th in the 50-yard freestyle in 38.6 seconds, and 14th in the 50-yard backstroke in 46.46 seconds.  All three were personal-best times.

Waverly's Arielle Allison, swimming in the 11-12 age group, also had three top-20 finishes for WAAC.

Allison finished 14th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 30.74 (personal-best 29.98 in the prelims), 17th in the 100-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 1:07.04, and 18th in the 100-yard IM in 1:22.84.

Waverly's Harper Varano, swimming in the 11-12 age group, had a pair of top-20 finishes. She was 15th in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:35.16 (personal-best time of 2:33.45 in the prelims) and was 19th in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:22.06. Varano also posted a personal-best time of 37.75 seconds in a 24th-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke.

The foursome of Owen, Allison, Varano, and Madeline Lincoln finished fifth out of 32 teams in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 2:06.19.

Owen, Allison and Lincoln teamed with Varano for finish fifth out 30 teams in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:26.36.

Waverly's Izzy Miner, swimming in the 15-18 age group, swam in the 50-yard freestyle.
