STAC JV SOFTBALL: WAVERLY OPENS SEASON WITH 14-5 WIN OVER CHENANGO VALLEY (2026-03-25)

WAVERLY — Sophomore Bella Root earned the win in the pitcher's circle and 8th-grader Kendall North powered the offense in Waverly's 14-5 season-opening win over Chenango Valley here Tuesday afternoon in STAC junior varsity girls softball action.

Root fanned 11 in five innings to earn the win. At the plate, she was 3-for-4 with a home run, two singles, and three runs scored.

North was 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple, and three runs scored in Waverly's 13-hit attack, while Claire Seager was 2-for-2 with a triple and one run scored, and 8th-grader Layla Oechslin and 7th-grader each singled twice and scored two runs.

Eighth-grader Harper Hillman doubled and scored one run in the win, while 8th-grader Carson LaFrance singled and scored one run, and sophomore Addison Temple walked twice and scored one run.

Waverly returns to action Monday at Owego.
