TIOGA CENTER — Tioga's Josh Rought and Cam Ross combined on a two-hitter, but Moravia took advantage of walks, a hit batter and the Tigers' only error to post a season-opening, 5-2, win here Monday afternoon in IAC Small School baseball action.

The Blue Devils scored a pair of two-out runs in the top of the first inning, the second scoring on an error.

Moravia used two walks, a hit batsman and a single to tack on three runs in the third inning to stretch its lead to 5-0.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard in the home half of the third inning.

Brayden Lounsbury started the rally with a one-out single, and Rought and Cooper Dember followed with base on balls to load the bases. Max Paugh plated both of Tioga's runs with a two-RBI line-drive single to left field.

The Tigers put two runners on base in the fifth inning on a one-out double by Dember and a single by Paugh, but both were left stranded.

Paugh was 3-for-3 with two RBI, and Dember doubled and singled to pace Tioga's eight-hit attack.

Lounsbury and Rought singled and scored one run for the Tigers, and Anthony Powell added a single.

Rought was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs — two earned — on two hits, while striking out eight and walking four in 3 1/3 innings.

Ross fanned five and walked two in 3 1/3 innings of no-hit relief.

Tioga returns to action Wednesday at Southern Cayuga.
