IAC BASEBALL: TIOGA RIPS SOUTHERN CAYUGA, 13-5, TO POST FIRST VICTORY (2026-04-09)

TIOGA CENTER — Tioga racked up seven runs in the first two innings and went on to defeat Southern Cayuga, 13-5, in IAC baseball action here Thursday for its first win of the season.

Anthony Powell started the Tigers off with a single to left field inthe bottom of the first, then advanced around the bases on an error.

Brayden Lounsbury followed with a double, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on Josh Rought’s single. Rought would steal second, head to third on a wild pitch and score on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.

The second inning saw Brendan Clark walk, Jacob Guiles get hit by a pitch, Jaxon Bidwell hit into a fielder’s choice, Guiles scored on an error and Bidwell scored on a ground out for a 5-0 lead.

Powell would score on a passed ball, Rought would walk and score on a Cooper Dember base hit, giving the Tigers a 7-0 cushion.

The Falcons took advantage of back-to-back singles and an error to get on the scoreboard in the third, then added a second run following a walk and a fielder’s choice.

Clark singled to begin the home half of the third, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Bidwell’s sacrifice fly. Meanwhile, Guiles walked and scored on an error off the bat of Powell, and Powell scored when the center fielder dropped Rought’s fly ball, making it a 10-2 contest.

With two away in the fourth, Clark took one for the team, Guiles reached on an error, and Clark scored on an error off the bat of Bidwell, pushing the Tioga lead to 11-2.

Two singles and two walks allowed SC to trim the margin to 11-5 in the top of the fifth, but doubles by Lounsbury and Dember made it 12-5 in the bottom of the inning.

The Tigers added one more run in the sixt when Ross walked, stole second, moved to third on Clark’s single and scored on Bidwell’s sac fly.

Tioga cranked out 10 hits and also took advantage of a half-dozen errors.

Powell had a hit, three runs and two RBI; Lounsbury had two doubles, two runs and an RBI; Rought registered a hit, two runs and an RBI; Dember contributed a double, single and two RBI; Max Paugh added two hits; Ross scored a run; Clark chipped in with two hits and two runs; Guiles scored a pair of runs; and Bidwell tacked on a run and two RBI.

Clark picked up the win on the mound, scattering three hits and seven walks over four innings while striking out two. Guiles allowed one hit in three innings of relief, fanning six and walking two.
