Valley Sports ReportTIOGA, Pa. — Five players recorded multiple jits as Athens shut out Williamson, 5-0, in NTL softball action here Thursday.
Gretchan Hiley and Danica May both went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI; Faith Parkhurst was 2-for-3 with two runs; McKenna Jarvis was 2-for-4 with an RBI; and Mya Allen went 2-for-3.
Gretchan Hiley also twirled a one-hit gem, striking out 14 batters in the process. She gave up six walks.
The Wildcats scored the only run they would need in the top of the second on May’s one-out home run to right field.
Parkhurst singled to lead off the fifth and scored on Gretchan Hiley’s single to center, then pinch runner Maci Campbell made it 3-0 on a sacrifice fly by Madalyn Hiley.
Athens tacked on two more runs in the seventh. Parkhurst singled, Gretchan Hiley reached on an error, and the duo moved up on Madalyn Hiley’s ground out to first. Jarvis followed with a base hit, scoring both runners on an error.
Also contributing at the plate for the Wildcats was Madalyn Hiley with a hit and RBI.
