NTL SOFTBALL: SAYRE FALLS TO WELLSBORO, 18-6 (2026-04-09)

SAYRE — Wellsboro cranked out 19 hits and took advantage of 11 Sayre errors to defeat the Redskins, 18-6, in NTL softball action here Thursday.

The Green Hornets rode a triple, three singles and two errors in the top of the first to a 5-0 lead, then extended their advantage to 9-0 in the second behind a triple, double, two singles and an error.

Wellsboro tacked on another run in the third then built a 13-0 cushion in the fourth with a double, two singles and two errors before Sayre ended the surge with a double play by Allia Bennett.

Sayre would put together a six-run rally in the home half of the inning. Rylee Lantz got things going with a base hit, followed by a base on balls to Zoe Ward. Mikyah Brown loaded the sacks on an error, then Lantz scored on an error off Bennett’s bat.

Afftyn VanDuzer drew a walk, plating Ward, Paige Secrist walked, scoring Brown, and McKenna Parrish grounded out to score Bennett, making it 13-4. The Redskins final two runs came on Emily Strickland’s single to center to bring VanDuzer and Secrist home.

A trio of singles and three errors gave the Hornets an 18-6 lead in the sixth.

Lantz led the Redskins at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run, and Strickland was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Parrish added a hit and an RBI; Bennett, VanDuzer and Secrist contributed one run and one RBI apiece; and Ward and Brown scored one run each.
