STAC BOYS TENNIS: WAVERLY FALLS TO FORKS IN CLASH FOR DIVISION LEAD (2026-04-12)

BINGHAMTON — Defending STAC Central Division champion Chenango Forks swept all four singles matches to defeat Waverly, 5-2, in boys tennis here Thursday.

It was the first divisional match for the Blue Devils while the Wolverines came in at 2-0.

Cal Nichols topped Logan Roskow at first singles, 6-2, 7-6, with Nichols winning the tie-breaker, 9-7.

At second singles, Justin Samson bested Nate Kellogg, 6-3, 6-2.

The third singles match went to Logan Hovanick over Nate McEwen, 6-3, 6-1.

Henry Hubbard received a forfeit win at fourth singles to complete the CF singles sweep.

Landon Butenko and Lucas Taylor teamed up at first doubles to down German exchange student Tammo Bruns and Finn Williams, 6-4, 7-6, taking the second set tie-breaker, 7-3.

Trent VanDyke and Owen Fassett were victorious for the Wolverines at second doubles, defeating Chris Samson and Jason Rosonbarger, 6-1, 6-3.

Waverly’s Kamden Sorensen and Alvin Gao won the third doubles match over Dakota Andus and Hunter Smith, 6-4, 6-2.

The Devils improved to 1-1 overall while the Wolverines slipped to 2-1.
