Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Despite the fact Athens only has three events on the docket, the spring season will see it most action to this point this week.
Nearly three-quarters of this week's events involve Waverly or Tioga teams, with the Wolverines competing in 15 events and the Tigers in 12.
There are 35 events on this week's docket with 10 on Tuesday and seven on Friday.
The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:
MONDAY (4)
• Tioga baseball and softball host Groton.
• Waverly hosts Susquehanna Valley on the softball diamond.
• The Tioga boys golf team plays its season-opener at home against S-VE.
TUESDAY (10)
• Waverly hosts Corning and Owego in its season-opening track meet
• Tioga hosts Newark Valley, Candor, Notre Dame in its first track meet at Haggerty Field this season.
• Sayre baseball and softball host Canton in NTL Small School battles.
WEDNESDAY (5)
• Athens hosts Towanda and Wyalusing in an NTL track & field tri-meet.
• Waverly hosts STAC Central Division baseball rival Seton Catholic.
• Tioga softball hosts arch-rival Newark Valley.
• Waverly boys tennis hosts Seton Catholic.
THURSDAY (4)
• Waverly hosts S-VE and Horseheads in girls golf action at Tomasso's Golf Course.
FRIDAY (7)
• Athens baseball hosts non-league foe Williamsport in its only game of the week.
• Waverly softball hosts Binghamton.
• Tioga hosts its annual Twisted Track & Field Relays.
SATURDAY (5)
• Waverly softball hosts Elmira.
• Waverly is in action at the Square Deal Track & Field Invite at Johnson City H.S..
