STAC JV BASEBALL: WAVERLY HOLDS OFF SETON CATHOLIC, 11-10; IMPROVES TO 3-0 (2026-04-14)

WAVERLY — Waverly took a big lead early, and held on late for an 11-10 win over Seton Catholic to improve to 3-0 on the season here Monday in STAC junior varsity baseball action.

The junior Wolverines opened the season with wins of 14-2 and 13-1 over  Chenango Forks.

Waverly 11, Seton Catholic 10

Waverly scored six runs in the home half of the first, and three more in the second to take a 9-1 lead over Seton Catholic, then held off for an 11-10 win.

The Wolverines scored twice in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 11-4, then the Saints countered with one run in the sixth inning, and five in the top of the seventh.

Jon Montgomery singled twice and scored three runs to pace Waverly's five-hit attack, while Peyton Lawson singled and scored two runs, Brycen Fiske singled and drove in one run, and Gabe Hendershot singled and scored one run.

Hayden Roskow scored two runs and stole two bases in the win, while Brock Rose scored two runs and had one RBI, Cooper Skovira had two RBI, and Chase Sinsabaugh scored one run.

Montgomery earned the win, allowing four runs on three hits, while striking out six and walking six.

Rose allowed six runs — all unearned — on one hit, with five strikeouts and five walks, Lawson yielded one hit in one-third of an inning.

Waverly 14, Chenango Forks 2
At Waverly, Waverly scored six runs in the second inning to take command early and two Wolverine hurlers combined on a no-hitter in a season-opening 14-2 win over Chenango Forks.

The Wolverines took advantage of eight base on balls and seven Blue Devil errors, collecting just four hits in the win.

Brody Lambert tripled, scored two runs and had three RBI, while Rose singled, scored one run, and drove in two runs, Montgomery singled, scored two runs, and knocked in one run, and Lawson singled, stole three bases, and scored three runs to account for Waverly's base hits.

Gabe Hendershot scored one run and had two RBI for the Wolverines, while Fiske scored one run, and drove in one run, and Roskow, Brayden Bowman, and Skovira each crossed the plate once.

Montgomery earned the win, allowing one run in four innings of no-hit ball. He fanned six and walked three.

Lawson threw two innings of no-hit ball, allowing one run, while striking out four and walking three.

Waverly 13, Chenango Forks 1
Waverly put the game away with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on its way to a 13-1 win over Chenango Forks.

The Wolverines scored twice in the first inning to take a 2-1 lead, then scored twice in the third inning to make it 4-1, before plating six runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 10-1.

Lambert doubled and singled, scored one run, and had three RBI, while Montgomery singled, scored three runs, and drove in one run, and Brayden Bowman singled, scored one run, and knocked in two runs.

Gabe Hendershot singled, stole two bases, and scored three runs in the win, while Lawson singled and had two RBI, Fiske singled, scored one run, stole two bases, and drove in one run, Skovira singled, stole two bases, and scored two runs, and Rose singled and scored one run.

Rose earned the win, allowing one unearned run in three innings of no-hit ball. He fanned five and walked two.

Roskow picked up the save with three innings of scoreless relief. He allowed two hits, while striking out two and walking two.

Waverly returns to action Wednesday at Seton Catholic.
