TIOGA CENTER — Senior RaeAnne Feeko homered and drove in six runs in her final home game to lead Tioga to a 20-1 five-inning win over Newark Valley here Wednesday afternoon in IAC Large School Division softball action.
The Tigers, now 6-1, will play their final eight games of the season on the road.
Newark Valley took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but Tioga answered quickly with Bri Lounsbury and Feeko leading off the game with consecutive singles. Both later scored on passed balls to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
Maddy Rogers, who walked to reach base, scored on a steal of home to make it 3-1 after one inning.
Feeko belted a one-out, three-run home run in the second inning to extend their lead to 6-1.
Consecutive singles by Rogers, Kate Kithcart, and senior Lilly Mezzatesta to make it 7-1.
After a passed ball scored a run, Kyah Nelson stroked an RBI single to extend the lead to 9-1.
Tioga closed out the nine-run rally with a bases-loaded walk to Olivia Shugars, Bri Lounsbury getting hit by a pitch to force home a run, and Feeko knocking in a run with a fielder's choice to make it 12-1.
The Tigers added seven more runs in the third inning, with Feeko's two-RBI triple the big hit in the rally.
Feeko was 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three runs scored, two stolen bases, and six RBI, while Irie Lynch was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, and one RBI, and Kithcart had three hits, including a double, two runs scored and one RBI in Tioga's 19-hit attack.
Rogers singled twice and scored three runs in the win, while Mezzatesta, Vanessa Tunnicliff and Nelson each had two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI, Shugars singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs, and Lounsbury singled, scored one run, and knocked in two runs.
Kithcart earned the win, allowing one run on seven hits in five innings. She struck out two and walked none.
TUESDAY
Tioga 11, Marathon 0, 3 innings
Bri Lounsbury and RaeAnne Feeko started the Tioga offense off with back-to-back home runs, and Olivia Shugars tossed a three-inning no-hitter in the Tigers' 11-0 three-inning win over Marathon here Tuesday afternoon in IAC softball action.
Lounsbury drove the fourth pitch into the gap and legged out an inside-the-park home run to lead off the bottom of the first, and Feeko followed a drive over the left-field fence to make it 2-0.
Madalyn Rogers re-ignited the rally for the Tigers with a single, and scored on a two-out RBI single Irie Lynch to extend the lead to 3-0.
Moments later, Shugars helped her own cause with a two-RBI single up the middle to push the lead to 5-0.
Lounsbury delivered another run with an RBI single up the middle, and Feeko capped the rally with a two-RBI double down the left-field like to make it 8-0.
Tioga tacked on three runs in the third inning, and were still batting when the thunderstorms hit. Marathon forfeited instead of waiting out the rain delay.
Feeko homered and doubled, scored one run, and had three RBI, while Lounsbury homered and singled, scored three runs, and drove in two runs, Lynch doubled and singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and Kithcart singled twice, and scored one run to pace Tioga's 10-hit attack.
Shugars singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs in the win, while Rogers added a single, and Mezzatesta scored one run.
Tioga returns to action Monday at Moravia.
