JOHNSON CITY — Sophomore Kaylin Twedt had three top-two finishes, and senior Kaitlyn Sutton and sophomore Gianna Soprano had big days to help the Waverly girls to a fifth-placed finish in the 25-team field here Saturday at the Square Deal Track & Field Invitational.
Nottingham ran away with the team title with 70 points, while Maine-Endwell was second with 51 points, Vestal was third with 39, Bainbridge-Guilford was fourth with 33 points, and Waverly tallied 29.3 points.
Twedt won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:00.46, and senior Haley Larrabee was 10th in 1:06.49.
Twedt and Sutton teamed with senior Haley Larrabee, and 8th-grader Kezlynn DeKay to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:18.24.
Twedt, Sutton, Soprano, and Larrabee teamed to finsh second in the 400-meter relay in a time of 51.74 seconds.
Soprano was fourth in the pole vault at 7-feet. She finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:18.16.
Sutton placed sixth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.47 seconds, and freshman Brayleigh Kohler was 22nd at 14.12 seconds.
Senior Mackenzie Chamberlain finished seventh in a time of 12:02.56, and junior Taylor Sinsabaugh was 14th in 14:20.18.
DeKay finished 10th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 28.13 seconds, while Kohler was 18th in 29.33 seconds.
DeKay was 13th in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.77 seconds.
Sophomore Kendall Rockwell finished 19th in the shot put with a heave of 24-feet, 8 1/2-inches. She was 23rd in the high jump at 4-feet.
Sophomore Miah Correll finished 23rd in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 6:00.18, and was 25th in the 800-meter run at 2:55.86.
Waverly returns to action Tuesday in a dual at Chenango Valley, then Friday at the Lasagna Invite at Wyalusing High School.
