SAYRE — Sayre took an early six-run lead, but Williamson scored seven runs in its final two at-bats to pull out an 11-9 win here Tuesday afternoon in NTL Small School baseball action at Riverfront Park.
The Redskins took advantage of errors and a run-scoring balk to plate seven runs in the home half of the second inning to take a 7-1 lead. The rally also featured RBI singles by junior Shaine Strickland and sophomore Riley McGaughey.
Williamson closed the gap to 7-4, but an RBI single by McGaughey gave the Redskins an 8-4 lead after four innings.
Sayre scored an unearned run in the fifth to extend the lead to 9-4, but Williamson scored five runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 9-9, then scored twice in the seventh to take an 11-9 lead.
