NTL SOFTBALL: CANTON JUMPS AHEAD EARLY IN 19-2 WIN AT SAYRE (15 PHOTOS) (2026-04-22)

SAYRE — Canton scored four runs in the top of the first inning, and cruised to a 19-2 four-inning win over Sayre here Wednesday afternoon in NTL Small School Division softball action at Riverfront Park.

Senior Mikyah Brown's two-RBI single in the bottom of the first inning put the Redskins on the board, and closed the gap to 4-2.

The Warriors plated five unearned runs with two outs in the top of the second to extend its lead to 9-2, then tacked on three in the third, and seven more in the top of the fourth inning.

Brown singled and drove in two runs, sophomore McKenna Parrish singled and scored one run, and senior Rylee Lantz belted a triple to pace Sayre's five-hit attack.

Sophomore Emily Strickland and junior Jade Roberts each added a single for the Redskins.

Williamson 15, Sayre 2
At Sayre, Williamson took an early lead, and rolled to a 15-2 five-inning win over Sayre Tuesday afternoon.

The Warriors led 5-0 when Sayre got on the board in the third inning.

Williamson extended its lead to 15-1 after 4 1/2 innings. Sayre scored the final run of the game on an RBI double by Parrish.

Senior Olivia Thompson tripled and singled, and scored two runs to lead Sayre's five-hit attack, while Parrish doubled and drove in one run, and Lantz and Strickland each added a single.

Sayre, now 1-10, returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Cowanesque Valley.
