SOUTHPORT, N.Y. — Tioga pounded out 22 hits in support of three-hit pitching by freshman Kate Kithcart in a 17-1 five-inning win over Notre Dame here Friday afternoon in IAC softball action.
The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning, and added another run in the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Tioga scored five runs in the third inning, and five more in the fourth to take a 14-0 lead.
The Crusaders got on the board in the home half of the fourth, but Tioga answered with three runs in the top of the fifth to provide the final margin.
Senior RaeAnne Feeko was 4-for-4 with with a home run, a double, three runs scored, three stolen bases, and five RBI, and freshman Bri Lounsbury was 4-for-4 with a double, five runs scored, and three RBI to pace the Tioga offensive onslaught, while Kithcart and 8th-grader Maddie Rogers each had three hits, including a double, one run scored, and one RBI.
Eighth-grader Olivia Shugars doubled and singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs in the win, while sophomore Kyah Nelson doubled and singled, and scored two runs, freshman Irie Lynch singled twice and scored two runs, Mya Freeze singled and scored one run, and senior Lilly Mezzatesta singled and scored one run.
Kithcart allowed an unearned run on three hits in five innings to earn the win. She fanned five and walked one.
Tioga, now 7-2, returns to action Monday at Groton.
