WINDSOR — Waverly poured 10 runs across the plate in the second inning and cruised to a 17-5 six-inning win over Windsor here Tuesday afternoon in STAC softball action.
The Wolverines took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-RBI double by junior Hannah Carpenter and an RBI single by junior Delanie Wheeler.
In the second inning, Carpenter delivered another two-run double, and junior Lecksie Douglas duplicated her feat to make it 8-0.
Eighth-grader Paige Bubniak stroked a two-run single later in the inning to make it 11-0, and senior Maddie Cron capped the rally with a two-RBI double to extend the lead to 13-0.
The Black Knights got on the board with four runs in the bottom of the third inning, but freshman Taylin Gonzalez's second RBI single of the game keyed a three-run Waverly rally in the fifth that pushed the lead to 16-4.
Carpenter doubled twice, scored two runs, and had four RBI, while Gonzalez singled twice, scored two runs, and had three RBI, and Bubniak singled twice, scored five runs, and had two RBI to pace Waverly's 14-hit attack.
Douglas doubled and singled, scored one run and drove in two runs in the win, while sophomore Melanie Skovira singled twice and scored three runs, Cron doubled, scored one run, and had two RBI, and Delanie Wheeler singled, scored one run, and knocked in one run.
Junior Kaiya Horton singled and scored two runs for the Wolverines, and junior Sofia Storelli added a single.
Gonzalez earned the win for the Wolverines, allowing five runs on five hits, while striking out nine and walking six in six innings.
Waverly, now 5-4, returns to action Thursday at Chenango Forks.
