ENDICOTT — Tioga split a pair of games here Saturday at the annual multi-site Mary Testa Softball Tournament, falling 9-8 to Pittsford-Sutherland, and topping Union-Endicott, 10-8.
In other scores, U-E edged Oneonta, 6-5, and Pittsford-Sutherland beat Oneonta, 13-4.
Pittsford-Sutherland 9, Tioga 8
Tioga led 8-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, but gave up five runs, including a one-out, walk-off three-run home run by Cara Orlando, in a 9-8 loss to Pittsford-Sutherland.
Tioga took a 4-1 lead in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Kate Kithcart.
After P-S closed the gap to 4-2 in the home half of the fourth, senior RaeAnne Feeko drove a line-drive home run over the left field fence to put the Tigers up 5-2.
After the Knights scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth to trim the deficit to 5-4, Feeko ripped a one-out RBI double, and Kitchcart stroked a two-run single to make it 8-4.
Three P-S hits and a Tioga error cut the lead to 8-6, and left runners on second and third to set the stage for Orlando's game-winning drive over the left-field fence.
Feeko was 4-for-4 with four runs scored, a double, a home run, and two RBI, and Kithcart was 3-for-4 with one runs scored, and three RBI to pace Tioga's nine-hit attack.
Freshman Bri Lounsbury singled and scored two runs for the Tigers, while senior Lilly Mezzatesta singled, 8th-grader Maddy Rogers and freshman Irie Lynch each had one RBI, and Mya Freese scored one run.
Kithchart was tagged with the loss, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. She struck out one and walked none.
Tioga 10, U-E 8
Tioga fended off a late rally to pull out a 10-8 win over host Union-Endicott in the second game of the Testa Tournament Saturday.
Senior RaeAnne Feeko hit a home run to center field in the top of the first inning to give Tioga a 1-0 lead, but U-E answered with two runs in the home half of the frame.
Sophomore Kyah Nelson's RBI double in the second inning tied the game at 2-2.
In the top of the third inning, Tioga rapped out five hits, including RBI singles by freshmen Kate Kithcart and Irie Lynch, and a two-run double by Nelson to take a 6-2 lead.
U-E closed the gap to 6-4 on solo home runs in the third and fifth inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, consecutive singles by Feeko, 8th-grader Maddy Rogers and Kithcart put Tioga up 7-4.
With two outs, Nelson stroked a two-run single to make it 9-4, and Mya Freeze capped the rally with an infield RBI single to extend the lead to 10-4.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, U-E strung together five consecutive hits to close the gap to 10-8, but Kithcart induced an infield pop fly to Feeko to end the game.
Nelson had three hits, including two doubles, one run scored, and five RBI, and Feeko had three hits, including a home run, two runs scored, and one RBI to pace Tioga's 15-hit attack, while Kithcart singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in two runs, and Lynch singled twice, scored two runs, and knocked in one run.
Rogers singled and scored two runs in the win, while Freese singled and drove in one run, freshman Bri Lounsbury singled and scored one run, and senior Lilly Mezzatesta and Cheyenne Moyers each added a single.
Kithcart earned the win, allowing six earned runs on 12 hits, while striking out six and walking gone in seven innings of work.
Tioga, now 10-3, returns to action Tuesday at Newark Valley.
