WAVERLY — Waverly won a pair of slugfest, topping Dryden, 14-13, and 18-13, here Saturday in non-league junior varsity softball action.
The Wolverines have won four in a row to improve to 9-3 on the season.
Waverly 14, Dryden 13
Waverly rallied in the bottom of the fifth for a 14-13 win over Dryden in the opening game of the doubleheader.
The junior Wolverines banged out 12 hits in the win, with five different players accounting for two hits.
Freshman Lily Root had two hits and three runs scored, while 8th-grader Carson LaFrance singled twice, scored one run, and had two RBI, 8th-grader Claire Seager singled twice and scored two runs, and 8th-grader Kendall North and 7th-grader Sydney Donovan each had two hits and one run scored.
Bella Root tripled and scored two runs in the win, while Harper Hillman added a single, freshman Lani Starr scored two runs, sophomore Addison Temple crossed the plate once, and 8th-grader Phoebe Minaker worked a pinch-hit walk and scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Hillman started in the circle for the Wolverines, striking out three in 3 2/3 innings, while Donovan earned the win in relief, striking out five allowing two earned runs in 2 1/3 innings.
Waverly 18, Dryden 13
Waverly rapped out 17 hits in an 18-13 win over Dryden in the nightcap of the twinbill.
Kendall North was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI, while Bella Root tripled, doubled, and singled, scored three runs, and had four RBI to pace Waverly at the plate, while Phoebe Minaker had three hits, three runs scored and one stolen base, and Claire Seager had three hits, including a double, and two runs scored.
Addison Temple had two hits and three RBI in the win, while Carson LaFrance singled, stole one base, and scored one run, Harper Hillman singled and scored two runs, Sydney Donovan doubled and scored one run, and sophomore Emily Banasky scored one run.
Waverly 17, Windsor 0
At Waverly, Sydney Donovan tossed a two-hit shutout, and 8th-grader Layla Oechslin powered the offense in a 17-0 whitewashing of Windsor.
Donovan fanned 10 and walked three in five innings to earn the win.
Oechslin homered and doubled, scored three runs, and had five RBI, Claire Seager doubled and singled and had three RBI, Lily Root tripled and singled, and scored three runs, and Bella Root singled twice and scored three runs for the Wolverines.
Harper Hillman singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run in the win, while Kendall North tripled, scored one runs nd had two RBI, Phoebe Minaker singled, scored one runs and had two RBI, Sydney Donovan singled and scored two runs, Carson LaFrance singled and scored one run, and Addison Temple crossed the plate once.
Horseheads 12-4, Waverly 5-5
At Waverly, Horseheads rolled to a 12-4 win in the first game of the doubleheader, but Waverly pulled out a 5-4 win in the nightcap.

Bella Root was 2-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI to pace Waverly's five-hit attack, while Addison Temple tripled, drove in one run, and scored one run, Kendall North singled and scored two runs, and Claire Seager singled, stole one base, and drove in one run.
Harper Hillman struck out six in four innings in the circle, and Sydney Donovan struck out two in a hitless inning of relief.
Waverly 5, Horseheads 4
Bella Root pitched five strong innings to lead Waverly to a 5-4 win over Horseheads in the second game of the twin bill.
Root allowed two earned runs on three hits, while striking out six and walking one in five innings to earn the win.
Lily Root singled twice, scored one run, and had one RBI to lead the Wolverines at the plate, while Layla Oechslin singled and scored two runs, Carson LaFrance doubled and scored one run, Kendall North singled, scored one run, and drove in one run, Bella Root added a single, and sophomore Charlotte Garrison scored one run.
Waverly returns to action Monday when it hots Owego.
