THE VALLEY — Junior Kam Wheeler was a key piece in Athens baseball's 3-0 week, while Tioga sophomore Vida Rossi continued to re-write the record book, and Tioga freshman Kate Kithcart and Athens junior Gretchan Hiley were two-way standouts for their teams. They are the VSR / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending May 2.

Wheeler hit .700 on the week, and turned in a strong pitching performance to earn a win.

Wheeler was 7-for-10 at the plate with seven runs scored, three RBI an done stolen base. He was 4-for-4 in a 9-0 win over Cowanesque Valley. He also picked up the win on the mound, allowing zero earned runs on five hits in five innings, with four strikeouts and one walk.

Wheeler was 2-for-3 with four runs scored and two RBI in a 19-7 win over North Penn-Mansfield.

Rossi broke her own school-record in the long jump Monday with a jump of 18-feet, 2-inches, breaking her old mark by four inches.

Rossi also won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.41 seconds, and was second in the high jump.

At the Legends of the Night Invite, Rossi won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.88 seconds, and won the long jump at 17-feet, 7 1/2-inches.

Kithcart hit .588 (10 hits in 17 at-bats) with two home runs, one triple, seven runs scored, 12 RBI, and one stolen base. She was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, two home runs and five RBI at the plate in a 17-2 win over Groton, and earned run in the circle, allowing zero earned runs in seven innings with nine strikeouts.

In the circle, Kithcart posted a 2-1 record with a 3.78 ERA. She fanned 23 and walked one in 20 1/3 innings.

Hiley posted a 3-0 record with a 0.91 ERA in the circle on the week. She fanned 34 and walked six in 23 innings. In a 2-1 eight-inning win over Cowanesque Valley, she allowed one run on five hits, with 17 strikeouts and one walk.

At the plate, Hiley hit .400 (4 hits in 10 at-bats) with a triple, four runs scored, and two RBI. She scored the winning run in the eighth inning in a 2-1 win over CV and a 3-2 win over Towanda.
