BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Waverly grad Jay Pipher, a sophomore on the SUNY Brockport baseball team, registered several first recently, including his first collegiate hit, in a lopsided win over Alfred University in Empire 8 Conference action.
Pipher, who was 0-for-3 with a base on balls entering the contest, delivered a run-scoring single, scored two runs, and worked a walk in his two plate appearances in a 25-5 win over the Saxons. He also recorded his first collegiate stolen base.
Brockport, now 21-19, is the sixth-seed in the Empire 8 Championships and will play at St. John Fisher Thursday in the quarterfinals.
