WAVERLY — Waverly pulled out a 15-13 win over Owego here Monday afternoon in junior varsity softball action to clinch the STAC Central Division title.
Eighth-grader Harper Hillman was 3-for-4 with a triple, one run scored and one RBI, and 7th-grader Sydney Donovan doubled and singled, scored three runs, had RBI, and a stolen base to pace Waverly's 12-hit attack.
Freshman Lily Root singled twice, scored two runs, drove in one run, and stole one base in the win, while 8th-grader Phoebe Minaker singled, had two RBI, and stole one base, and 8th-grader Kendall North singled, scored three runs, and stole one base
Sophomore Bella Root doubled and scored two runs for the Wolverines, while 8th-graders Carson LaFrance and Claire Seager each singled and scored two runs, and sophomore Addison Temple drew four base on balls.
Bella Root battled through seven innings in the pitcher's circle to earn the win. She allowed five earned runs on nine hits, while striking out 15.
Waverly, now 10-3 and winners of five straight, wrap up the regular season Saturday at home with a doubleheader against S-VE.
