WAVERLY — Waverly senior Hogan Shaw had one additional accolade added to his long list of accomplishments on the hardwoods with an all-state selection by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
Shaw, who was a fifth-team Class B all-state selection as a junior, was selected to this year's Class A 12th team.
"Hogan Shaw is very deserving of 12th team All-State honors for Class A," said Waverly coach Lou Judson. "He has improved each season since his freshman year, and his development has been impressive to watch.
"Hogan is one of the best pure shooters I’ve ever coached," noted Judson. "When the ball left his hands, you felt like it was going in, which is the mark of a great shooter.
"He’s an extremely competitive player with a strong feel for the game. I could easily see Hogan getting into coaching someday, as he has a lot to offer the sport.
"Congratulations to Hogan on a great high school career," added Judson. "We wish him all the best in the next phase of his academic, and, hopefully, athletic journey."
A very good defender, Shaw led the Valley, scoring 17.3 points per game and knocking down 58 3-pointers on the season, with a shooting percentage of 34.9 percent from behind the 3-point arc.
Shaw also averaged 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, and shot 69.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Shaw ended his career with 1,106 points, which is fourth all-time in school history, and a school-record 183 3-pointers, as well a school-record 68 3-pointers in his junior season.
