NTL SOFTBALL: ATHENS FALLS 7-2 AT HUGHESVILLE (2026-05-08)

HUGHESVILLE — Hughesville took the lead early, then pulled away late in the game for a 7-2 win over Athens here Friday afternoon in non-league softball action.

The Spartans, now 12-4, scored runs in the second and third innings, and led 2-0 after four innings.

Hughesville scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, and two more in the sixth to extend its lead to 7-0.

Senior Dancia May reached base on an error to lead off the top of the seventh for the Wildcats, who had just one hit through the first six innings. May ended up on third base after a double by freshman Abby DeLosa.

Athens scored its first run on a freshman Mya Allen, and its second on a one-out RBI single by sophomore Kendall Galasso.

DeLosa doubled and scored one run, while Allen and Galasso each singled and drove in one run, and junior McKenna Jarvis added a single to account for Athens' four hits.

Junior Gretchan Hiley was tagged with the loss. She allowed five earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out 13 and walking two in six innings of work.

Athens, now 12-3, hosts Troy Tuesday.
