YOUTH WRESTLING: ATHENS' HALL, COBB HELP PA. TO 44-36 WIN OVER N.Y. AT DUALS ON DESMOND (2026-06-08)

ATHENS — Weather forced the Duals on Desmond, which was held on the grounds here at Athens Area High School, Youth Dual inside, but the crowd and competitors didn't let that dampen their enthusiasm.

A duo of Athens wrestlers — Beau Hall and Jason Cobb — helped the Pa.team to a 44-36 win over the New York squad here Saturday afternoon.

At 160 160 pounds, Hall scored a save-point move and a takedown in the first period to take a 10-1 lead, and finished off the fall of Horseheads' Tommy Vesek in 2:06.

At 105 pounds, Athens' Jacob Cobb registered three takedowns in a 9-2 decision over Chenango Valley's Ethyn Brown.

Waverly's only competitor in the Youth Dual —  Axten Mezzatesta — scored a pair of first-period takedown to build an 8-1 lead before registering a fall of Athens' Gunner Lake in 2:14 in their 75-pound match-up.

Sayre's Bryce Stanton dropped a 6-5 decision to Corning's Judd Garner in the 80-pound match-up.

At 125 pounds, Athens' Kruze Payne scored a first-period takedown, but Honeoye Falls' Sawyer Hatch scored a fall in the second period.

Allegheny-Limestone's Maximus Colburn won by fall over Athens' Jaxon Camp in 55 seconds in the heavyweight division.
