WEBSTER, N.Y. — Waverly will have three of its four competitors in action here Saturday at Day 1 of the New York State Class B Track & Field Championships, with senior Troy Beeman, the Wolverines' highest seed, in action Sunday.
Beeman will joined at the State meet by sophomores Kaylin Twedt and Gianna Soprano, and 8th-grader Kezlynn DeKay.
Beeman is the 11th seed in the discus with a mark of 146-feet, 6-inches. Eastport's Matteo Monter is the top seed at 173-feet.
His event is scheduled for Sunday at noon.
DeKay is the 13th seed in the 100-meter hurdles with a seed time of 17.71 seconds. Cornwall's Madison Riccardi is the top seed at 14.56 seconds.
The 100-meter hurdle prelims are scheduled for 10:35 a.m. Saturday, with the finals set for Sunday at 1:45 p.m.
Twedt is seeded 13th in the 400-meter dash with a seed time of 58.71 seconds. Nylah Phillips of George W. Hewlett is the top seed at 54.39 seconds.
The 400-meter dash is set for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Soprano is the 32nd seed in the pole vault at 8-feet, 6-inches. Shaker's Ruby Miracle is the top seed at 13-feet, 1/4-inch.
She will be the first Wolverine in action, with the pole vault beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The opening ceremonies are slated to begin at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, with action on the track and field set to start at 10 a.m.
