WAVERLY — Waverly took the early lead, but Horseheads rallied for a 9-2 win here Tuesday in the opening game of pool play in the District 6 Majors Division baseball playoffs.
Waverly scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning, but Horseheads answered with five runs in the top of the third, then added two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.
Robert Henderson singled, scored one run, and drove in one run, while Beau Bauman, Brody Payne, and Lucas Wolcott each added a single to account for Waverly's four hits, and Dallas Harbst scored one run.
