Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — Towanda scored 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to an 18-3 three-inning win over Sayre here Saturday afternoon in the final game of pool play in the District 15 Minors Division baseball playoffs.
Sayre scored its three runs in the top of the second, but Towanda answered with four runs in the home half of the inning, then closed out the game via the "mercy" rule with two more runs in the bottom of the third.
Gavin Roof singled and drove in two runs, and Jackson Shannon singled to account for Sayre's two hits.
Noah McCutcheon, Lucas Stone, and Jaxon Burch each scored a run, and Andrew Vanderpool drove in one run.
Sayre, which wraps up pool play at 0-4, will travel to Troy Monday for the opening round of bracket play.
