Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Athens finished off a perfect 12-0 season with wins over Waverly and Towanda in the playoffs of the Athens Area Girls Junior High Summer basketball league.
Athens, which was 10-0 to win the regular-season title, topped fourth-seeded Waverly, 42-10, in the semifinals Monday night, then edged Towanda, 35-30 in the finals.
Towanda, which was 8-2 in the regular season, slipped past Troy, 27-26, in the semifinals.
