SECTION 3 LITTLE LEAGUE (11U): ATHENS BOUNCES BACK TO BEAT BLUE RIGE, 13-6; ADVANCES TO CONSOLATION BRACKET FINALS (2026-07-15)

WILLIAMSPORT — Athens jumped ahead early and rolled to a 13-6 win over Blue Ridge here Wednesday night in the first game of the consolation bracket of the Section 3 Little League 11U baseball playoffs.

Athens scored four runs in the top of the first inning, then added two more in the third to take a 6-0 lead.

Blue Ridge scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Athens answered with four runs in the fifth to take a 10-2 lead.

Blue Ridge countered with one run in the home half of the fifth, but Athens scored three times in top of the sixth to make it 13-3.

Gio Sharpe was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored, and two RBI, and Mason Shores singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in two runs to pace Athens' eight-hit attack.

Marshall Warburton singled, scored one run, and knocked in one run in the win, while Malachi Peterson singled and scored one run, and Bentley Stephens added a single.

Calvin Mosher scored three runs and had two RBI for Athens, while Kaleb Chambers scored two runs, and Declan Owens crossed the plate once.

Chambers earned the win, allowing three runs — all unearned — on no hits, while striking out six and walking six in four innings.

Maddox Kreider closed out the game, allowing three runs — all unearned — on two hits, while striking out two and walking two in two innings.

Athens returns to action Thursday in the consolation bracket finals.
