Valley Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — After being given a second life, Montoursville posted a 10-0 win over Athens in an elimination game in the consolation bracket of the Section 3 Little League Baseball 11U Division here Friday evening.
On Thursday, Montoursville did not show for the game, claiming the air quality was too bad to play, and game officials forfeited the game to Athens.
Montoursville filed an appeal, and won. Athens, which made the 75-mile trip, also filed an appeal, but it was denied, and the game was re-scheduled to Friday.
Montoursville took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the bottom of the second, then padded the lead with five runs in the third inning.
Montoursville closed out game with three runs in the fourth inning.
Marshall Warburton doubled and singled, Jase Blair doubled, and Mason Shores singled to account for Athens' four hits.
Athens committed eight errors in the loss.
