BERWICK — Loyalsock Township jumped ahead with seven runs in the top of the first inning, an cruised to an 12-2 four-inning win over Athens here Sunday afternoon in the winner's bracket finals of the Section 3 Little League Baseball Majors Division playoffs.
Loyalsock extended its lead to 9-0 with two runs in the second inning, then scored two runs in the third to take an 11-2 lead.
Loyalsock extended its lead to 12-2 with a run in the top of the fourth inning, and held Athens scoreless in the home half of the inning to end the game via the 10-run rule.
Beau Hall's two-run home run in the second inning was Athens' only hit of the game. Bentley Stephens scored the other run for Athens.
Connor Robinson had the best turn on the mound for Athens, allowing one unearned run on one hit, while striking out two and walking one in one inning of relief.
Athens returns to action Monday against Milton in the consolation bracket finals.
