Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — The Waverly Wagonmakers 8U baseball won the Sayre Little League – Future Stars Tournament championship game here Thursday at Riverfront Park.
The Wagonmakers topped Elmira Cal Ripken, 13-3, in four innings in the championship game.
Marshall Zwierlein was named The Gilbert-Brown Memorial MVP of the tournament for his dominant pitching over the two weeks, allowing only one hit over 6.0 innings pitched, and striking out the last 6 batters he faced.
Waverly 8U had a successful season finishing 8-3, also winning the B Bracket at Nichols Tioga in June.
Broden Orlandi, Samson Reznicek and Mason Williams led the Wagonmakers with 19 hits on the season, while Marshall Zwierlein had 18, Mikey Rylott has 12, and Jack Ward and Desmond McLinko each had 10.
Williams led the Wagonmakers with 17 runs scored, while Reznicek scored 15 times, and Zwierlein added nine runs scored.
Reznicek led the team with 23 RBI, Orlando had 15, and Williams added 10.
