Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Waverly senior Brilynn Belles became the second Wolverine in as many years to earn Class C all-state honors on the flag football field when the New York State Sportswriters Association unveiled its 2026 teams.
Belles was named a fourth-team selection just like her former teammate Addison Westbrook, who was named to the fourth-team selection last year.
"We are Just really happy for Bri on getting recognized for the excellent year she had," said Waverly coach Dave Shaw. "She came a long way in two years and really understood the offense ... she was a good leader for us.
"I feel like (assistant coach) Peyton (Miller) does a really good job with the offense in general, and did an awesome job of coaching her up the last two years," noted Shaw. "I also think our overall team success and growth played a big part in Bri getting recognized ... I am just really proud of everyone of them.
"We will miss Bri and the rest of this senior class who have been with us three years and truly helped mold this program," added Shaw. "Their toughness and willingness to show up no matter what, will be impactful for years to come."
A two-year starter at QB, Belles led Waverly to a 12-4 record and its first trip to the Section IV, Class C finals.
Belles completed 60 percent (198 of 330) of her passes for 1,951 yards, and a school-record 33 TDs, with nine interceptions.
She also rushed for 187 yards and a team-high eight TDs on 44 carries.
On defense, Belles had 37 flag pulls and two interceptions.
