Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Football Friday features the NTL "Game of the Year" with Athens traveling to Troy, and defending state champ Tioga hosting Delhi in new coach Jake Howland's first game.
Also on the schedule is the first annual Tioga County Tournament, which features all four field hockey teams from the county, at Tioga's Haggerty Field.
FOOTBALL
Athens (1-0) at Troy (0-1), 7 p.m. @ Alparon Park: The Wildcats are coming off a 44-0 win at Wyalusing in Week 1, while the Trojans dropped a 26-19 decision to Montoursville at Alparon Park.
Troy won last year's meeting in a wild 51-35 decision at Alumni Field.
Delhi at Tioga, 7 p.m. @ Haggerty Field: The defending Class D champion Tioga Tigers begin defense of their state title against the last Class D team to claim a win over former coach Nick Aiello, in the 2025 Section IV title game.
Tioga is coming off a 13-1 season, while Delhi was 7-3.
Sayre (0-1) at South Williamsport (1-0), 7 p.m. @ Morgan Stadium: The Redskins are coming off a 55-2 home loss to Towanda, while the Mounties rolled to a 48-0 win over North Penn-Mansfield.
Sayre's offense showed signs of life in the ground game, while South's offense was clicking, especially on the ground.
