Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Waverly sophmoore Cooper Chrystie accounted for five TDs to lead Waverly to a season-opening win, while Athens junior Patrick Umber had a pair of multi-goal games in Wildcat wins, and Athens senior Meg Wiles opened the season with a pair of strong performances. They are the VSR / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Sept. 5.

Chrystie ran for three scores and threw for two more in a 36-23 win over Port Jervis.
Chrystie rushed for 221 yards on 33 carries, scoring on runs o9f 16, 6 and 5 yards. He completed 4 of 14 passes for 83 yards and two TD, throws of 69 and 9 yards to his twin brother Carter.
Umber scored six goals for the Wildcats in a pair of wins.
He scored twice in a 13-0 win over Wyalusing, then netted a career-high four goals in a 6-1 win over North Penn-Liberty.

Wiles had 24 setter assists and four service aces in a sweep of Troy, then had 36 assists and eight service points in a heart-breaking five set loss to North Penn-Liberty.
