HANCOCK — Deposit-Hancock scored twice late in the first quarter on its way to a 4-0 win over Tioga here Thursday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.

"This week's practice focused on free hits and our movement to keep control of the ball and the girls were really able to execute that tonight," said Tioga coach Aubrey Worthing. "We saw a lot of cutting.

"We had some opportunities to score, but just couldn't finish it," she noted. "The long grass was a bit of a struggle for us, especially with it being our first game on grass.

"Overall, we played with a lot of teamwork and had great communication," added Worthing.

Victoria Green scored with 4:35 remaining in the first quarter, then made it 2-0 with a goal at the buzzer. Both goals were unassisted.

The scored remaining 2-0 at the half, but D-H scored twice in the first three minutes of the third quarter to provide the final margin.

Teaghan Tarbox and Nora Bartholomew scored — both off assists from Lauren Stevens — to provide the final margin.

D-H had a 12-2 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 15-1 edge in penalty corners.

Vangie Decker recorded six saves in net for the Tigers in the first half, and Paige Fenton added three in the second half.
