Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Football Friday features three games, with Athens and Sayre hosting divisional rivals, while Waverly is on the road at Maine-Endwell.
Tioga volleyball's first home match highlights the non-football action.
FOOTBALL
Cowanesque Valley at Athens, 7 p.m.: The Wildcats dropped a 31-21 decision to Troy in Week 2, while the Indians lost to Wellsboro, 26-13.
Athens dug itself a big hole in the first half last week, but played well down the stretch.
CV has been competitive in both games, losing by 13 in both contests.
Muncy at Sayre, 7 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 55-0 loss at South Williamsport, while the Indians blanked Wyalusing, 45-0.
Sayre has struggled mightily on both sides ball, and have been outscored, 110-2, in its two losses.
Muncy's loss was a hard-fought 14-7 decision against a tough Warrior Run squad.
Waverly at Maine-Endwell, 7 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 36-23 win, while the Spartans travelled to the Rochester suburbs to beat Webster-Thomas, 47-33.
Both teams took some graduation hits, but both teams looked good in Week 1 on both sides of the ball against good teams.
These two teams have put on entertaining ball games each of the last two season. Waverly won 28-20 last year, and lost 42-41 in overtime the year before.
