VOLLEYBALL: WAVERLY REACHES SILVER BRACKET FINALS AT CORNING TOURNAMENT; WAVERLY FALLS IN SILVER BRACKET SEMIS (22 PHOTOS) (2026-09-12)

CORNING — Waverly reached the Silver Bracket finals of the Corning Hawks Volleyball Tournament Saturday, while Tioga was knocked out in the semifinals of the Silver.

Horseheads, the winner of the Silver Bracket, eliminated Tioga in the semifinals, and topped Waverly in the finals.

Corning topped Ithaca in the Gold Bracket finals.

Waverly was 2-4 to finish fourth in a tightly-contested Pool C, which was won by Trumansburg at 4-2. Horseheads and North Penn-Liberty were both 33.

Waverly notched both of its wins over North Penn-Liberty by scores of 31-29 and 25-19. The Wolverines were swept by Trumansburg by scores of 25-20 and 25-23, and Horseheads by scores of 25-22 and 25-17.

Waverly beat Edison and Rush-Henrietta to reach the Silver Bracket finals.

Tioga was 2-4 to finish third in Pool, with Ithaca winning it with a 6-0 mark, and Charles Finney placing second at 4-2. Edison was fourth at 0-6.

Tioga notched its two wins over Edison by scores of 26-24 and 25-13. The Tigers were swept by Ithaca by scores of 25-13 and 25-21, and by Charles Finney by identical scores of 25-19.

Waverly returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Johnson City, and Tioga travels to Trumansburg.
